<span class="a">Here are some of the most commonly occurring questions we are asked
concerning Fantasmic, along with their relevant answers. This list in ongoing &
will be updated from time to time. Should you still have unanswered questions
concerning role playing here please do not hesitate to contact a member of the staff.</span>
<br><br>
<span class="b">Q: Fantasmic? What's this? What's the site all about?
<br><br>
A: Fantasmic (also known as Fant!) is our literate / intermediate level canon Disney forum where characters from across the Disney worlds are free to interact within the free-form, open-plot RPG.
<br><br>
Q: Is there a plot?
<br><br>
A: Indeed there is, check here for full details. Fantasmic was inspired by the night-time show of the same name at the Disney parks. Here on Fant! the premise is that the evil fairy Maleficent, intent on plunging the Disney characters into a world of nightmare where evil reigns supreme has put everyone into a deep sleep which will enable her to control their dreams. Thus, every character here on Fant! is asleep and dreaming, yet despite Maleficent's plans not every dream is a nightmare and of course in your dreams just about anything us possible, which is why you may find for example, The Mad Hatter, Scar and Aladdin lost somewhere in the Himalayas, or perhaps Mary Poppins and Prince Naveen window shopping in ancient Greece.
<br><br>
Q: Who runs this site / who is the site admin?
<br><br>
A: Fantasmic is owned and maintained by Mandy, who is also the site admin.
<br><br>
Q: Who are the members of staff?
<br><br>
A: The staff are: Mandy (admin) Ky, Ammers & Rune.
<br><br>
Q: How do I contact the staff?
<br><br>
A: You can leave a message in the Cbox, or if you prefer send them a PM (private message.) Note that many of the staff play more than one character, however for ease of reference their 'main' characters appear in a link in the side bar. The quickest way to contact an individual member of staff - unless they are chatting in the Cbox - is usually to drop them PM via their main character's bio. On their individual bio pages you will see a clickable link to send them a PM (personal message.)
Staff main characters are as follows:
<br><br>
MANDY - Jasmine
KY - Clopin
AMMERS - Will Turner
RUNE - Genie

<br><br>
Q: Can I be a member of staff / moderator / admin?
<br><br>
A: Thank you for your interest but the Fant!Staff are not seeking new staff members.
<br><br>
Q: Does Fantasmic have any rules?
<br><br>
A: Yes, please check out our rules and guidelines section here. In brief, Fantasmic is a literate / advanced level canon Disney RPG forum with a G rating and as such we require that our members respect and remain within those parameters as well as asking that they follow good basic netiquette, i.e. respect the opinion of others even when it differs from our own / remaining polite at all times.
<br><br>
Q: What do you mean by 'PG-13 rating'?
<br><br>
A: The PG-13 rating means that we do allow some strong language, sensuality, and violence so long as it is not too graphic and is suitable for the character and the situation. (No F-bombs, sorry guys!)
<br><br>
For example, it is not appropriate for a character like Simba to curse/swear profanely at another character, but it would make sense for, say, Hunchback of Notre Dame characters to talk about "damnation" or PotC characters to talk about brothels and consume alcohol. We expect to see some action on Fantasmic, and what's a good story without a little mortal peril? So some level of violence is allowed but again, it has to make sense for the characters and their situation.
<br><br>
We know some of this might be subjective, so we just ask you to use your good sense and if you have any questions about the appropriateness of language or content you wish to write, please feel free to PM a Staff member about it! We wont get upset and we don't bite! A good way to look at it is, what would you expect to see or not see in a PG-13 film?
<br><br>
We also ask that while RP content can go up to PG-13, please keep public spaces like the CBox STRICTLY G/PG RATED! Passers-by can see this and we want to stay classy and no scare anyone away :]
<br><br>
Q: What do you mean by literate / advanced level rpg?
<br><br>
A: By literate / advanced we mean that all IC (in character) posts our members make must be written in the third person and be at least 200 words long. In addition, we require the use of paragraphs, proper grammar and punctuation as well as correct spelling. For an online spell-checker try jspell.com or search Google.
<br><br>
Q: What do you mean by 'canon' Disney characters?
<br><br>
A: Canon means that all characters on Fant! are portrayed EXACTLY as they were in their original Disney movies, they have the same looks, the same mannerisms, the same knowledge - in other words they are authentic & genuine and not based on fan fiction or alternate universe. Remember though, that because our plot is dream-based, remaining canon is no barrier to your character appearing in any of the other Disney worlds here on Fant! and interacting with other canon characters that he/she never knew existed before.
<br><br>
Keeping your character canon should not be difficult but it does require some degree of vigilance on your part, for more information and help with keeping your character canon please check out RP:101 Character in Character.'
<br><br>
Q: Do I have to make a celebrity or other real life 'face claim' for my character?
<br><br>
A: No, your chosen character will look exactly as they did in their original movie. Thus if you choose an animated character like Pongo, then he will still be an animated dalmatian, and if you choose Mr Gibbs from POTC, then he will still be 'live action' and look like he did in the Pirates trilogy.
<br><br>
Q: The rules section talks about how you don't allow god modding / power-playing, what is that exactly?
<br><br>
A: God modding / power-playing / autoing occurs when you do something to another person's character without their prior consent, for example deciding what another person's character has said or done or how they have reacted to something and then carrying that action through in your own post.
<br><br>
Role playing is all about communication between the players and god modding can throw a plot off course - think, if Player A 'moves' Player B's character or sticks in a line of speech for them to suit their own plot needs, then Player B is likely to become upset. This also applies if Player C's character - who may not even be directly involved in your thread at all but who is nevertheless actively played IC elsewhere on Fant! - is mentioned and used in your plot without their prior consent. Remember, you can pick up many cues from your co-player's posts and use them in your own post, referring to raised eyebrows, exclamation of outrage etc but please be careful and if in doubt ask the person you are playing with if it is okay to do something with / to their character via the Cbox or PM / IM before you do it.
<br><br>
Finally, if someone has agreed to allow you to mention or move their character then it's a good idea to mention it in a brief OC note at the foot of your post, this tells anyone reading the thread that the other character's author is okay with the post too and that you are not god-modding.
<br><br>
A general overview & guidelines on power-playing (god-modding) and how to avoid it may also be found here HERE.
<br><br>
Q: Right, I want to join Fantasmic, what do I do?
<br><br>
A: In order to join in the role play you will first need to sign up for an account and be approved, so first pick your character - usually your account will be your chosen character's name - and then simply create a profile for them. If you do not have the time to post the complete application, you may post it as a work in progress (WIP.) Once your character's application has been approved you're good to go.
<br><br>
Q: I created an account but it's not in my chosen character's name, do have to create a new account?
<br><br>
A: No, we will change your account name to your character's name upon approval.
<br><br>
Q: I'm a bit confused about how to create a profile for my chosen character, can you help?
<br><br>
A: There are guidelines on choosing a character and help on writing up your application HERE. Please don't be afraid to ask members of staff if you still feel unsure. It is often a good idea to take a look at some of the accepted applications in the Character Roster section too as they will give you a good idea of what is expected.
<br><br>
Q: My character aged during the course of their movie from a child / cub to an adult; how do I fit my application around that?
<br><br>
A: Your application needs to be current to the conclusion of the movie (and it's sequels if applicable) in which they feature. Thus, if you want to play Simba your application will contain information relevant to both his childhood and his adulthood and if you want to play Pinocchio you will just cover his childhood, Note however that because this is all a dream, you can RP your character anywhere along their own timeline so Simba can be played as either a cub, a young adult or a mature adult lion.
<br><br>
Q: My character died during the course of their original movie, can I still play him / her?
<br><br>
A: Because Fantasmic takes place within a dream, yes you can although in the 'history' section of their application you will still have to include all events up until their death. Having been approved, you can again play them from anywhere along their individual timeline.
<br><br>
Q: I'm having trouble choosing a character, any ideas who I should play?
<br><br>
A: Whose voice can you hear in your head? Often the best character to play is the one you can hear in your imagination and will already have lots of ideas for. However, if you prefer a challenge perhaps pick a different character, ask for suggestions via the Cbox or check the wanted /needed characters thread here. If other members do offer suggestions, don't feel pressured to take up that character if you feel you might not be able to play them 'in character' or are likely to struggle. Similarly, please don't pressure or bug people to take on a character you particularly wish to see played on Fant! pop an ad in the 'wanted' board instead.
<br><br>
Q: Is every single Disney character ever available to apply to portray here?
<br><br>
A: No, we have a list of all currently acceptable animated and live action movies Disney movies together with any appropriate spin-off shows here.
<br><br>
There is also a 'cast of characters movie by movie' style list here. which lists in full which characters are acceptable here.
<br><br>
In brief, we allow 'classic' characters such as Goofy & Donald; characters from original Disney animated movies and their sequels such as Aladdin & Snow White; characters from original Disney live-action movies and their sequels such as Jack Sparrow and Prince Caspian and finally characters from Disney Channel shows that are spin-off series from original Disney movies such as Hercules the TV Series and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. Please check the list carefully if in doubt before you apply for a character and ask a member of staff if still unsure. Please note: If we specifically say that a show/film is NOT accepted here at Fantasmic, this is a final decision. Please do not contact the staff and ask for the show/film to be reconsidered.
<br><br>
Q: Do you allow characters from live-action Disney Channel shows such as Jessie or Zack & Cody?
A: No, characters from these shows are not allowed on Fant! Please see above. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FINAL DECISION. DO NOT ASK THE STAFF TO RECONSIDER THESE.
<br><br>
Q: Do you allow characters from Disney Channel cartoons like Gargoyles, Gummi Bears or Kim Possible?
<br><br>
A: Again, sorry but no. Please check the list here to see which shows we allow. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FINAL DECISION. DO NOT ASK THE STAFF TO RECONSIDER THESE SHOWS.
<br><br>
Q: Now that Disney owns Marvel, can I play a Marvel movie character such as Spiderman, the Hulk, Emma Frost or Wolverine?
<br><br>
A: No, characters from the Marvel universe are not allowed. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FINAL DECISION. DO NOT ASK THE STAFF TO RECONSIDER THESE CHARACTERS OR THEIR FILMS.[/spoiler]
<br><br>
Q: Do you allow characters from Studio Ghibli such as Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle?
<br><br>
A: No, characters must be from a films actually produced by Disney, not just films that the Disney company distributes. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FINAL DECISION. DO NOT ASK THE STAFF TO RECONSIDER THESE FILMS.
<br><br>
Q: Can I play a character from Kingdom Hearts?
<br><br>
A: We do not accept Kingdom Hearts characters such as Sora. If you are applying for a Disney character that also appears in KH remember that you must apply for them as they appeared in their original movie, not as they appear in the game.
<br><br>
Q: Can I play a Disney ride character e.g. Figment, the TimeKeeper, 9 Eye, Bill Nye the Science Guy; or an unlisted character from the parks e.g. Mayor of Main Street, Frances Fermata, The Dapper Dans?
<br><br>
A: Sorry but no, currently we do not allow these characters.
<br><br>
Q: Do you accept OCs? (original characters.)
<br><br>
A: No, Fantasmic is a canon character only RPG.
<br><br>
Q: How can I tell whether a certain character is already being played or is available?
<br><br>
A: There are several ways but the easiest is probably to check the regularly updated 'Current Cast of Characters' listing here which should include all characters which are currently active and corresponds with the 'Taken Characters Movie by Movie' listing here which groups all active characters together by their respective movies & any permitted spin-off series. If you want to be extra thorough, you might also want to check the Character Roster Forum (grouped under hero, Neutral & Villain and the Members List. Characters not appearing are available although in some cases, you may find applications to play them in the Character Registry Forum.
<br><br>
Q: My application for [insert character's name here] is waiting to be reviewed by staff but now I see that someone else has also applied for the same character, is this allowed?
<br><br>
A: Yes, it is allowed. No character is considered 'taken' until approved by staff and it is not uncommon to see several applications for the same character submitted at the same time. Remember, if a character is still in the Registry Forum then you are still welcome to apply for him / her (although if they are working on some final edits at staff request you may well find they have been accepted by the time you have completed your app.)
<br><br>
Q: According to the 'Current Cast of Characters' list the author of the character I wish to play is on 'hiatus.' What can I do?
<br><br>
A: Contact a member of staff to inquire about this character's availability.
<br><br>
Q: According to the 'Current Cast of Characters' list the character I wish to play is 'active' but I can't see any recent IC (in character) roleplay posts by them. What can I do?
<br><br>
A: Contact a member of staff to inquire about this character.
<br><br>
Q: The character I wanted is already being played and is active in the RP, what can I do?
<br><br>
A: Sorry, but in this case you will have to pick another character to play here.
<br><br>
Q: How can I find out which member plays which character(s) on Fant?
<br><br>
A: Check the 'Current Cast of Characters' listing here for a complete list of staff, members and ex-members and their corresponding characters.
<br><br>
Q: Why are the characters names in different colors? What does that mean, and why are some names struck out or through?
<br><br>
A: Characters are color-coded as follows:
<br><br>
[FANT! STAFF | HEROES | NEUTRALS | VILLAINS | APPLYING (awaiting approval) | RETIRED

<br><br>
Note: characters whose names have been struck through, e.g. Bootstrap Bill are no longer active on the board, in which case the character may be available - check the Current Cast of Characters list to be sure someone else has not already taken them before you apply.
<br><br>
Q: Why are some characters names labelled 'Staff NPCs?
<br><br>
A: NPC means 'non playable character' and in the case of 'Staff NPC' it refers specifically to those characters in the Disney universe who are seen to be all-powerful and infallible and who will have barely (if indeed any) weaknesses. The problem with such characters is that by their very nature, they inevitably wind up power-playing or godmodding (something we strongly discourage here on Fant!). Some of these characters, such as Mickey and Maleficent, are crucial in controlling the plot here at Fantasmic. For these reasons, they have therefore been reserved for Staff use.
<br><br>
Staff-controlled characters will appear from time to time when important plot points demand it, but don't expect to see them popping up in OOC areas or games.
<br><br>
If you feel that one of the Staff NPCs is needed in a thread you are currently involved in, please feel free to drop us a line to request that character's appearance.
<br><br>
Our current Staff NPCs are: Maleficent (with Diablo), The Good Fairies & Mickey Mouse.
<br><br>
Q: What do you mean by "Advanced Character?"
<br><br>
A: Characters listed as "Advanced" are characters who are extremely powerful and could potentially god-mod other players (usually for strong magical capabilities), or who happen to be notably complex (such as having a difficult speech pattern to write). Some of them are considered "purely good" or "purely evil," and therefore could be played very wrongly if the writer isn't competent enough. Therefore, to apply for one of these characters, you will have to have been very active with at least one character (have at least 30 IC posts) and show very strong writing skills. The Staff will only accept very strong applications for these characters.
<br><br>
Q: Can I play more than one character on Fant?
<br><br>
A: Yes you may. However, if you are new to Fant! we very strongly suggest that you get at least a handful of IC posts in at least two different roleplaying threads with your first character under your belt before applying for any more. This helps you not only to get a feel for the site and how it works , but also gives you an idea of how much time you have to engage in writing posts and whether you can realistically manage another character as it's no fun to find yourself with 3 characters and not enough time to post with them all and also it's unfair to those who have agreed to RP with you. To this effect, the staff will not consider any applications for 2nd / 3rd / 4th etc characters unless all the characters you currently have are all active.
<br><br>
We also require that members wait at least one month between one new character application to another, or between dropping one character and picking up another.
<br><br>
Q: If I want another character, do I have to make a new account for them?
<br><br>
A: Yes you do. You will also have to complete a character application form for your new character just as you did for you first one and wait for he / she to be approved. (Please note that Jcink does allow you to link your accounts to make switching between them easier!)
<br><br>
Q: Does the RP sample in my app. have to be for the Fant! character I'm applying? I RP [insert char here] on another forum, can't I write my sample as them instead?
<br><br>
A: Sorry, but no. If you are applying for say, Snow White we need a sample of how you would RP Snow White, this is to ensure that you are capable of playing him as a canon Disney character on Fant! A sample of your Twilight / Pokemon / Batman etc character may indeed show us your style but it is not what we are looking for here.
<br><br>
Q: I am applying for my second / third etc character here, do I have to write a new RP sample for them?
<br><br>
A: If you already play an accepted character on Fant! then you are *usually* exempt from writing a second RP sample (unless of course you wish to do so to help you get into that character and see if you can really get under their skin which is always a good idea.) The reason for this is that since you already RP here, we know how you write. However, there may be exceptions and times when we ask for a second sample anyway, this may occur when the character is particularly complex or a radical departure from one you already portray or when we simply feel more information is required.
<br><br>
Q: Is there a limit to how many characters I can play here?
<br><br>
A: At present there is no limit (within reason of course), however it is worth remembering that you must ensure all of your characters are active (meaning that they are all involved in actual 'in character' RP threads) in order to keep them. So please take the amount of time you are able to dedicate to playing all of them on Fant! into consideration when you apply as quite simply it is not fair to hang onto or 'hog' a particular character just because you like them - remember, if you can not keep your character active you may be asked to give them up so that someone else has the option of playing them.
<br><br>
Along with activity, remember too that although it may be tempting to grab up lots of different characters you must still be capable of playing them 'in character' so it is a good idea not to pick up extra characters on an impulse. If you do suddenly think 'I must play so and so' try to wait a few days and then see if you still wish to play them (and have muse for them) before taking the plunge as it's a horrible feeling to realize you have no idea what to do with your new character once they have been approved.
<br><br>
Q: What do you mean by 'active' / how often am I expected to post here?
<br><br>
A: In order to be considered active we require that each member makes a certain number of IC (in character) posts per month. The exact number depends on how many characters you portray here, but the basic rule is that if you play multiple characters, you must make at least 2 IC posts with your first two characters and then at least 1 IC post with all your remaining characters per month.
<br><br>
For Example:
Player A portraying just Uncle Scrooge = 2 IC posts as Scrooge per month.<br>
Player B portraying Mickey and Pluto = 2 IC posts for Mickey & 2 IC posts for Pluto per month.<br>
Player C portraying Abu, Mr Gibbs & Horace Horsecollar = 2 IC posts each a month for any 2 of their 3 charries and 1 IC post a month for the remaining character. <br>
Player D portraying Merlin, Prince Charming, Bashful, Prince Charming, Mr Tumnus & Lady Cluck = 2 IC posts each a month for 2 any of their 6 charries and 1 IC post per month for each of remaining 4 characters.<br>
The above is the minimum number of posts required and course more than this is infinitely preferable, especially if you are able to be around the site much more just than once a month and control multiple characters or have important characters such as princesses.
<br><br>
Here on Fant because there is no strict board-wide plot, threads progress at their own rate so with this in this in mind, we ask that if you are only going to be around once or twice a month that you do not take a lead / important character who is likely to be instrumental to the plot - it is simply not fair to stall the thread again and again and to make other players keep waiting for you to catch up and reply. On the flip side if you are the one waiting for someone else to post in your threads please be considerate and give them space and time to answer, they may not have as much free time as you do and hassling / calling them out them in the Cbox is impolite, if you are seriously concerned for the progress of a thread drop them a polite PM instead or contact a member of staff about the matter.
<br><br>
Please also keep in mind too that if you are playing an 'active' character and are able to be around the site regularly, those RPing with you (or those who may like to play the character you play) will be anticipating that you post regularly in IC roleplay threads and may become frustrated if you stick to posting only in out of character areas. Think of it this way - a certain character you would like to play yourself is online regularly and posting regularly in OOC / non RP forums etc, but is only posting as that character 'in character' in an actual roleplay thread once in a blue moon. If you would like to play that character yourself (or are waiting on a reply from them) it's pretty frustrating, right? Remember, if you say you are active please be active which means posting with all of your characters in the IC RP sections. Obviously this doesn't mean you're not very welcome to post in the OOC sections too, online socializing is a wonderful thing and we're proud of our big Fant! family and how well we all get along here but please don't neglect the IC part in favour of OOC, at the the end of the day Fantasmic is all about roleplaying after all.
<br><br>
Q: I read one of the Fant! Newsletters and it was talking about Impulse Apping and how it is not wise to succumb to it. What do you mean by impulse apping?
<br><br>
A: Impulse apping is simply our way of describing the urge to apply for a character on a sudden impulse, right out of the blue so to speak when quite often you had never considered them even a short while before. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of apping for a new character , especially when other members tell us it's a good thing or consider picking up 'companion' characters to yours but sadly all too often the fascination runs dry and you find yourself stuck with a character you no longer really care about playing.
<br><br>
This is why we urge all of our members to consider their character choices carefully and not fall prey to sudden whims, it's fine to play an impulse character in an instant RP on MSN when the muse is hot but quite another to find yourself struggling to make the Activity Check with a charrie you no longer have any muse for.
<br><br>
Q: Also in the Newsletter I read about having to wait a month between applying for new characters or between dropping an old one and picking up a new one. I'm confused, can you explain this to me?
<br><br>
[spoiler=Click For Answer!]A: We have recently introduced this measure to try and discourage the craze of impulse apping and also to help members concentrate on their newest character before rushing on to pick up another.
<br><br>
Basically the rule works like this:
<br><br>
~ If you have recently had a new character approved and wish for another, you must wait a month before you may apply again. Remember, you must be active with *all* the characters you are currently approved for in order for us to consider you for another one and your latest character *must* have IC posts.
<br><br>
~ If you have multiple characters and decide to drop one of them, again you must wait a month before you may apply for a new one. This measure has been installed to try and discourage impulse apping, whereby we see members suddenly dropping one of their characters in order to grab up a new one.
<br><br>
Q: I dropped one of my characters and have to wait a month before I can apply again. What happens if during that month, someone else applies for the character I wanted?
A: First of all please note that the Fant!Staff will handle any situations such as these on their own individual circumstance and merits.
<br><br>
In theory then, if someone does put in an application for your chosen character, let's say Goofy and you are on your 'time out' then you are welcome to put your application in as well even though your month may not be up. We will then decide which (if any) application to approve.
<br><br>
If we decide to approve *your* Goofy then the account will be put into a special 'reserved' non posting user group and will remain there until the month is up. Nobody else will be able to apply for Goofy after this as he is *yours*. Once the month is up we will approve the account as usual and you will be ready to post.
<br><br>
If however we approve the other application, then depending on whether or not they too have a month to serve due to dropped characters or are a new member or an established member picking up an additional character then the account may be approved at once (in which case you will be free to apply again for a different character if you so wish & you have the muse once the remainder of your month is up.)
<br><br>
Obviously as you can see this there are many variables at play here which will affect the actual approval dates and as usual we as staff will take many other factors into account along with the quality of the application such as number of characters, activity levels and so on. We will though as always, be as fair as possible.
<br><br>
Q: I've finished my application, when will it be approved?
<br><br>
A: How long is a piece of string? The time it takes for an app to be approved varies and depends on what is happening out there in the real world for members of staff, as we are not online 24/7. Sometimes we are able to process applications quickly whereas at other times it may take us several days, if this is the case with your app, please be patient, we will do our very best to ensure that all applications are acknowledged within three days, however, as applications are reviewed by the staff as a group, at busy RL times it may take longer.
<br><br>
Q: I'm still waiting for my application to be reviewed but the staff have missed it and are dealing with applications that were completed after mine. What is happening and why am I being ignored?
<br><br>
A: First of all, don't worry--you're not being ignored. The reasons for some applications 'jumping in the line' are various, for example, if a current member re-applies for a character they previously played but dropped, and now wish to take up again, the app will usually go through very quickly.
<br><br>
Please don't fell you are being ignored if you have to wait, most often the delay is simply because the staff are busy discussing or else need to get together to discuss your application. This usually happens when the application is for a particularly demanding or difficult character and just as it takes more time for you to complete the application for these characters, so it takes the staff more time to discuss whether or not it meets requirements. Please be patient if this is the case.
<br><br>
Q: My application has been approved. Now what?
<br><br>
A: Congratulations! Your first stop should be the Eventboard (situated within the Bulletin Board forum) where you can create a thread for your character asking for people to RP with them, or reply to threads already posted there looking for new players for their threads.
<br><br>
Q: Can my character appear in more than one thread at a time?
<br><br>
A: Yes. Because each RP thread is a self-contained story in the making, your character can appear in many different worlds and interact with many different characters across the whole of Fantasmic, you are not restricted to just the one thread. Bear in mind though that while it is very easy to get carried away and sign up for a lot of threads, it is sometimes more difficult to find time to post in all of them which means you are letting your fellow RPers down, so try to pace yourself and keep to a limit you know you can comfortably cope with.
<br><br>
Q: My application has 'Pending' on it, what does that mean?
<br><br>
A: Pending means that your application is still being considered. When this is the case, you will usually be asked to provide a little more information for your character's app or perhaps to check spelling, grammar etc. Check the post carefully to see what you are being asked to do and if in doubt ask a member of staff.
<br><br>
Q: Why are there some applications in the Registry forums labelled '[staff actioned: pending / review]' What does that mean?
<br><br>
A: Just as it says on the tag line, these applications are under review by staff, usually because the member needs to increase activity with other characters before this application will be advanced. Members in this situation will be contacted privately.
<br><br>
Q: Why was my application was denied?[/b]
<br><br>
A: Reasons for denying an application will be given within the 'denied' post. Please don't take it personally if you find your app has been rejected and feel free to contact the staff if you wish to discuss the matter.
<br><br>
Q: I tried to apply for another character but have been advised that I am not active enough at the moment and that you would like to see me increase posts with my other characters first before my next can be approved. What can I do?
<br><br>
A: At Fant we require that each member makes 2 IC posts per month with their first 2 characters and 1 IC post a month per character with any others they control - that being the absolute minimum number of posts required for you to be considered active.
<br><br>
So if you already have for example 3 characters and want another, we will take into consideration how active you currently are on the site with all your characters and make a decision. Thus if you have not posted the minimum number of times (which would be 5 IC posts a month with 3 characters) or have been using just one of your characters whilst the other 2 sat idle, then it may well be that we feel you simply do not have the time for another one and ask that you increase your IC activity if you still want that character. This is done to prevent characters being snapped up and then sitting on the shelf when other members might wish to play them.
<br><br>
Please remember every application will be considered on an individual basis so obviously if you have several charries and play them all several times a month then there will be no problem, but in all cases please be assured that we will be as fair as possible and take everything we can into consideration, including the facts that some characters are harder to get into threads than others and also that sometimes a thread stalls and you have no choice but to leave your charrie waiting for a while for replies. As with everything else here on Fant, if you are unsure then the staff are very willing to help you and discuss this.

Q: Is there a word count / word limit in posts here?
<br><br>
A: Yes, all IC (in character) posts made in RP threads must be at least 200 words long.
<br><br>
Note that we sometimes have what we refer to as 'FastPass' threads running, these usually crop up around popular holidays or other big events and usually involve the 'everybody welcome, jump right in' format (meaning the thread is open to everyone and anyone. In these cases the word count is usually reduced to 150 words per post or even 100 words per most minimum (although of course you are free to write more if you wish to.) The 'FastPass' rule means that just like the lines at the parks, the large group threads are kept moving quickly.
<br><br>
Q: What is the Monthly Activity Check?
<br><br>
A: The activity check is simply a way for staff to ascertain whether members of Fant! are still active. All you need to do when a new check is posted is to add your character(s) name(s) together with the date of their last IC (in character) post. If you are going to be away and you think a check is due please alert a member of staff so that we can list you as active even if you do not reply to the check. If you do not reply to an Activity Check we will contact you to see if you are still around and if you do not respond you are likely to be removed from our active list which means that your character(s) will be up for grabs again.
<br><br>
Q: There is a new Disney movie coming out soon, can I reserve a character from it to play when it's released?
A: No, because of our application process we do not allow members to reserve characters from forthcoming movies, if you make an application for a character shortly before their movie is due to be released it will not be reviewed until the release date and you may find yourself in friendly 'competition' with other applications for that same character. To save confusion, we ask that you do not post applications for new characters until their movie has been released.
<br><br>
Q: I want to make a custom icon (avatar), are there any limits to the size I can have?
<br><br>
A: First, your avatar must be no larger than 150 x 150 pixels. If you are uploading an avatar from your computer onto Fant it needs to be 25KB or less, animated avatars are allowed but again, if you are uploading them they must fit the upload parameter. Larger file sizes are permissible if you are linking to them but remember that not all image hosting services allow direct-linking. Try imageshack.us or tinypic.com.
<br><br>
Q: I want to make a custom signature, are there any limits to the size, content etc?
<br><br>
A: All graphic signatures should be around the 430 wide by 220 high pixel limit and must comply to forum rules (meaning they must not contain anything unsuitable for a G rating.) You may also display small stamps in your signature but please keep these to a reasonable number and a reasonable size. If you are also displaying a 220 x 430 picture signature one line of stamps is enough. We ask that you do not use significant animations in your images - little edits such as blinking eyes are acceptable, but please no fully-animated gifs or flashiness, etc. It can be extremely distracting, and we like to keep the board neat-looking and organized!
<br><br>
If your signatures are over the limit, unsuitable in any way or contain excessive quantities of stamps you may be asked to re-size or remove them.
<br><br>
Please remember too that if you are using a picture such as a piece of fanart or other manip made by someone other than yourself that you found on DeviantArt etc, then you should always credit the artist for their work in your sig line and if possible ask for their permission *before* you make the signature / avatar. Some artists get very angry & upset when they see their work 'stolen' edited and used without permission so please be polite and considerate.
<br><br>
Finally, please bear in mind that since Fantasmic is a *canon* RPG, any images contained within your signature also need to be canon (i.e. images of your character as they appeared in ther Disney movie/show.) Images of the actors, voice actors etc are not allowed.
<br><br>
Q: I would love a custom avatar /signature but I don't know how to make one, can anybody help?
A: Certainly, Mandy has an avatar (icon) & signature request thread here so feel free to request something. There is also a thread to request stamps here.
<br><br>
Q: What are the buttons at the top of the page, Fant!Net and Fant!Tweet and so on?
<br><br>
A: Why not click them and see, they don't bite! Basically they are our off-site sites - Fant!Tweet is our Twitter page; Fant!Tube is our YouTube channel, and Fant!Net is our social networking group all of which you are welcome to join as a member here.
<br><br>
On Fant!Radio you can listen to a selection of Disney songs online and Fant!Chat is exactly that, a Meebo-based chat room facility which we often decamp to when the Cbox just can't contain us all or for when we gather to watch a movie together on 'Fant! Movie Night' and enjoy the agony that is trans-Atlantic DVD synchronization![/spoiler]
<br><br>
Q: What is the difference between the Cbox and the IC-box?
<br><br>
A: The Cbox is there so that members may ask questions (any staff online at the time will then attempt to answer them) and for socializing and simply having fun. Members usually use their real names or a nickname as opposed to their character's name when posting in the CBox and although it is fine to discuss basic plot directions or Fant-related or friendly matters (remember to adhere to a G rating while in this "public" space, please) do be aware that all of the comments posted in the Cbox are visible to the public and so it is not the place to post personal problems, health issues or other 'heavy' matters, these are far better discussed via PM or IM. Please do not repeatedly post in the Cbox as your character (IC), we don't mind the occasional couple of lines from them where relevant of course but do keep it to a minimum. If you want to chat as your character, use the IC-box - that's what it's there for!
<br><br>
In the IC-box - reached via a link under the Cbox - you chat IC (meaning that you post there as though your character is chatting directly with other characters.) Again, please keep to the G rating at all times when posting in here no matter how excitable and / or 'bad' your character might be and remember to keep your topics suitable for a child-friendly audience.
<br><br>
Q: Despite going through the FAQ, I still have a question I need to ask.
<br><br>
A: No problem, simply contact a member of staff and they'll be happy to help!</span>

Revived by Hades, King of the Underworld, Maleficent fled to her lair in the Forbidden Mountains, determined to seek revenge on those who had spited her. But why stop there? She could take over the world, cause suffering like that which she had dealt with all her life. And she knew just how to accomplish this. Calling upon the forces of evil, she cast a spell upon all of the fairytale kingdoms, putting all of their inhabitants into a deep sleep. A sleep which would be plagued with nightmares and darkness.
<br><br><img src='http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4397/storyline2.png'><br><br>
But the three Good Fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, caught wind of the dark fairy's scheme just in time. They intervened, creating a loophole in Maleficent's plot. They allowed light to shine in the darkness. Yes, there would be nightmares. But there would be wonderful dreams, too. There would be hope. Now all dwell in this dream world, where anything is possible... and where Maleficent is waiting for the opportune moment in which she can destroy the light forever.
<br><br>
And hosted in these dreams, our adventures begin.
<br><br>
-------
<br><br>
Our literate/intermediate roleplay and plotline is based upon the amazing theme park night spectacular, Fantasmic!, which performs nightly at Disney's Hollywood Studios Orlando, Disneyland California, and Disney Tokyo Sea Japan theme parks. We have used this plot here, only in a slightly differed form. In this roleplay, the evil force Maleficent has come up with a scheme to put everyone into a deep sleep, where their dreams can be controlled and turned into dangerous and tormenting nightmares. And thus, everyone falls asleep... and they can then dream up almost anything possible. They can end up in strange and mysterious locations with the most random of characters with no real explanation needed...which makes for a fantastic roleplay scenario. (Why, they can even imagine that the dead have rejoined them in the land of the living!)
<br><br>
Fantasmic is a literate Disney open-plot/free-form RPG (asking at least 200+ words per post) set to include Disney characters and worlds from all across the years, from Cinderella to Giselle, Jack Sparrow to Mary Poppins, Pluto to Naveen. Leading or supporting, big or small; all classic Disney characters are welcome in this plot. But how could they all possibly mingle between worlds, you ask? Well this IS a dream, after all! The sky is the limit, and characters are allowed to freely travel between worlds thanks to our dream-scheme plot to interact with different characters in new locations they might not be able to reach in their own canon.

Anything can happen, leave it all to your imagination!</center>[/dohtml]
